One person is sold into slavery

every 27 Seconds

Hagar exists to transform the lives of women and children in Vietnam, Singapore and Cambodia who have survived trafficking, slavery and other severe forms of abuse. Some of the global facts that motivate us and our donors are:

1 person is sold into slavery every 27 seconds

50 million people are estimated to be living in slavery right now.

That’s more than at any other time in history

25% of them are children,

62% are in Asia,

Human trafficking is the fastest growing criminal industry in the world

Vietnam is second highest country of origin for trafficking into the UK

Since Hagar’s establishment in 1994, we have walked the journey with over 33,000 of women and children who have survived one or more of these severe forms of abuse. Hagar staff have met each of these survivors in a season of their lives where they are broken and traumatised. Together with our donors, we have provided comprehensive recovery services and done whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, to see these survivors thriving. We also educate communities on how to prevent and recognise trafficking and other forms of abuse.

As we raise awareness in the UK about these global issues, we always find people who want to know more about human trafficking and slavery particularly. Click the buttons below to have your questions answered!
